1. How Do I Temporarily Suspend My Subscription To A List?

There is not a No Mail option for TEC lists. If you need to temporarily suspend your list subscription you must unsubscribe from the list for the duration of your absence and re-subscribe upon your return. You can manage your subscription in two ways:  by email or by Web.

To unsubscribe by email, send an email message from the account you wish to unsubscribe to imailsrv@tecathsri2.org with the words unsubscribe list name email address in the message body. To subscribe by email, from the account you wish to subscribe send an email message to imailsrv@tecathsri2.org with the words subscribe list name email address in the message body.

To unsubscribe or subscribe to any list by Web, please visit the list subscription page of our website at http://www.tecathsri.org/lists.asp and follow the instructions.

2. Can I Use An Out-Of-Office Auto Reply Message On The Lists?

No. If you will be out of the office and need to have an Out of Office Auto Reply message set up, you must unsubscribe from this list for the duration of your absence and re-subscribe upon your return. Otherwise, every time a message is posted to the list, your Auto Reply message will also be posted. This causes unnecessary traffic on the list and is inconsiderate to other list members.

When repeat Auto Reply messages are sent to the list from the same person, the list administrator will unsubscribe that person as quickly as possible. Until the person is unsubscribed, please do not send more unnecessary messages to the list about the problem as this will just generate more Auto Reply messages. If you feel that a complaint is warranted, please send your message to the administrator at teclists@hsri.org rather than to the list.

Please see “How do I temporarily suspend my subscription to a list?” for instructions on how to unsubscribe and subscribe to a list.

3. How Do I Reply To An Individual Subscriber As Opposed To The Entire List?

If you would like to simply hit the "Reply" key but would like for your message to go to an individual rather than the entire list, you can simply copy the individual's email address from the "From" line of the email message and paste it into the "To" line of your reply message. This will work for standard email software programs (e.g., Netscape, Outlook Express, etc.).
f you are using a system such as Pine, please follow the instructions below that were previously posted by subscriber Karun Krishna Singh <kks8@COLUMBIA.EDU>.

When you see a message with headings like this,

Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2001 09:04:28 -0800
From: Karun Krishna Singh <kks8@columbia.edu>
Reply-To: outcmten@world.std.com
To: outcmten@world.std.com
Subject: Strategic Planning Paper Available

All you need to do is the following:

  1. Type "r" for "reply." You'll get a message saying: "Include original message in Reply?"
  2. Type "n" for "no." (You could type "y" for "yes" if part or whole of the message is relevant to your response.) After having typed "n" or "y", you'll get a message saying: "Use ‘Reply-To:’ address instead of ‘From:’ address?"
  3. Again type "n" for "no.” You'll get a message saying: "Reply to all recipients?"
  4. Please type "n" again for "no." And with that final command, you'll be taken directly to the email address of the person who originated the post.

4. Are List Archives Available?

Yes, archived messages are available from December 2001 through the present at http://www.tecathsri.org/list_archive.asp. From this page you can view messages for a particular list, year, and month, or you can search for messages by subject, author, or keyword.

Prior to December 2001, select archived messages were only made available through our publication, TECScript. TECScript provides interested persons with unedited compilations of email messages from the four mental health electronic mailing lists offered by the Evaluation Center@HSRI. A TECScript is produced only when a particular subject relevant to the purpose of the list receives significant contributions from list members. These publications may be especially useful to those without Internet access.

TECScripts are available in paper and/or electronic formats. To order a paper version for a $1.00 - $3.00 charge or to retrieve a FREE electronic version, click on order TECScripts. You will need to add the TECScript to your shopping cart and then complete an information form before your order can be processed. If ordering an electronic version, you will receive an email with a link to download your selected item(s). If you would like to order the paper version by phone, please contact the Evaluation Center@HSRI at 617.876.0426 ext. 2375. If you have any questions about the TECScripts, please contact Clifton Chow at chow@hsri.org or 617.876.0426 ext. 2510.

5. Are Statistics Available For The Lists?

Yes. List statistics are compiled monthly for each list and include number of subscribers, number of new and cancelled subscriptions, number of messages posted and message topics. These statistics are posted to the lists.

6. I Sent A Message To A List But It Was Never Posted. What Am I Doing Wrong?

This usually happens when the server is changed for an email account’s outgoing mail, resulting in a small change in the email address. For example, you could be subscribed to a list using the address jane.doe@dph.sf.ca.us but your outgoing mail uses the address jane.doe@sfdph.ca.us. Since the list will only allow messages to be posted by a subscriber, it will not recognize the latter address and will not automatically post the message. These messages get bounced to the list administrator who will then contact you about the problem.

7. How Can I Receive The Digest Version Of A List?

Currently there is a digest version available for the OUTCMTEN (Outcomes Evaluation Topical Evaluation Network) list only. If you subscribe to OUTCMTEN-DIGEST you will receive periodic email messages containing all of the individual messages posted to OUTCMTEN in a given time period. If no messages are posted in a given time period, you will not receive an OUTCMTEN-DIGEST message. If you are currently subscribed to OUTCMTEN, remember to unsubscribe from OUTCMTEN before subscribing to OUTCMTEN-DIGEST.

Please see “How do I temporarily suspend my subscription to a list?” for instructions on how to unsubscribe and subscribe to a list.
